Cam Jones
Cam Jones joined the Vasse Felix Restaurant in late 2019 where he proved an integral part of the team as Sous Chef, helping the team to secure both the 2021 Restaurant of the Year Award, and place 2nd in Delicious Australia’s Top 100 WA Restaurants.
Perth born and trained, his experience includes positions at esteemed venues; the Raffles Hotel and Red Cabbage, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of renowned chefs Scott O’Sullivan and Adam Sayles. During his impressive seven-year tenure at the acclaimed South Perth fine diner, Cam’s culinary prowess flourished, propelling him to assume the role of head chef at the tender age of 26.
With the 2018 WA Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year Award under his belt, Cam moved to Margaret River, drawn by the relaxed outdoors lifestyle and surrounding natural beauty. Since starting at Vasse Felix, Cam’s appreciation of fine wine has grown exponentially, and his food reflects this, evolving to highlight the nuances and balance of the Vasse Felix wine collection.
The kitchen takes inspiration from the flavour profiles and textures of Margaret River wine and the Vasse Felix winemaking style. Using the superb local produce, Cam and his team create depth and body of flavour through intricate culinary techniques, packaged within a deceptively simple plating style. Cam’s passion for creating memorable culinary experiences is obvious, driven by a modest desire to keep customers happy and excited to dine at Vasse Felix.
Cam ascended the ranks from Sous Chef to Head Chef in 2023, marking a significant milestone in his culinary journey. Embracing this new challenge with unwavering enthusiasm, Cam brought his unique flair and innovative ideas to the Vasse Felix kitchen. His dishes seamlessly combine classic culinary techniques with a modern twist, leaving diners eager to savour every delectable creation.
